Leading European research organisations (BSC, CINECA, CEA, FZJ) have agreed to coordinate themselves in order to continue the implementation of the HPC strategy through technology development as proposed in Horizon 2020.

Athens, 3-4 June 2014: at the occasion of the 13th Council Meeting of PRACE – the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe – Sanzio Bassini of CINECA was elected Chair, with Anwar Osseyran of SurfSARA, Netherlands elected as Vice-Chair.

New opportunities: RDA Europe has launched a support programme aimed at introducing European early career researchers and scientists to RDA, highlighting what data scientists/practitioners are doing, drawing on their knowledge for Plenary 4 activities and defining ways in which they can support the Working & Interest group activities.

Cineca experts will hold two scientific conferences about Horizon 2020 (The Framework programme for Research and Innovation) and European infrastructures to share scientific publications and data. Projects OpenAccess and OpenAire, EUDAT and RDA will be presented.

On 20 - 22 May, PRACE organises in Barcelona its first Scientific and Industrial Conference - the first edition of the PRACE days - under the motto "HPC for Innovation – when Science meets Industry". The conference will bring together experts from academia and industry who will present their advancements in HPC-supported science and engineering.

Cineca is the co-organizer of "The 2014 High Performance Computing & Simulation Conference" (HPCS 2014) to be held in Bologna on July 21-25, 2014.
It's to address, explore and exchange information on the state-of-the-art in high performance and large scale computing systems, their use in modeling and simulation, their design, performance and use, and their impact.

ETP4HPC and the European Commission established a contractual Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for supporting the development of the European HPC eco-system and facilitate the achievement of research and investment objectives in the area of HPC technology provision, application development and sustainable HPC infrastructure. The first public event within this charter was held in Paris on April, 9.

CINECA will co-chair the session “Molecular Dynamics and Modelling of Protein Structure and Function via High Performance Computing Simulations” within the workshop "Bringing Maths to Life" (BMTL) to be held on October 27th-29th, 2014, in Naples.
This workshop lets biologists and mathematicians join forces to address key areas in biology that face demanding mathematical challenges.
