A new computing system, named GALILEO, is now available at Cineca. The new Italian Tier-1 system for industrial and public research replaces the now obsolete but deserving PLX system. It is devoted to scientific computing on the basis of national and European proposals.
GALILEO is a IBM NeXtScale cluster accelerated with Intel Phis processors.

The 2015 International Workshop on Software Engineering for High Performance Computing in Science (SE4HPCS15) will be held Tuesday May 19, 2015 in Florence, in conjunction with ICSE 2015. Submission deadline: January 23, 2015

HBP Students can now apply for the second HBP Education Workshop - Future Medicine, to be held 15-18 March 2015 at the Centre hospitalier universitaire vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne, Switzerland. The application deadline is 1 February, 2015.

Flagship ERA-NET gathers National and Regional Funding Organisations in Europe with the goal of supporting the FET Flagship initiative (Graphene Flagship and HBP Flagship). Investigators based at universities, research institutions, SMEs and larger enterprises are invited to team up to submit proposals in the area of the Flagships.
Submission Deadline: January 27th 2015.

Many disciplines today share a common problem: the storage and management of large amount of data.
In this workshop, some experts will show these kind of problems in their disciplines and how PICO (the new Cineca big data machine) can help users to solve them.
The workshop will take place on Friday 5 December 2014 in Cineca - Bologna, Casalecchio di Reno.

UniBo Motorsport (team from University of Bologna) won the 11th edition of Formula SAE Brasil, at Piracicaba track, Sao Paolo state, Brazil.
Formula SAE is an innovative competition in which university students from all over the world compete to design and produce a formula prototype.
Cineca collaborates with the team providing HPC resources.
