CINECA will co-chair the session “Molecular Dynamics and Modelling of Protein Structure and Function via High Performance Computing Simulations” within the workshop "Bringing Maths to Life" (BMTL) to be held on October 27th-29th, 2014, in Naples.
This workshop lets biologists and mathematicians join forces to address key areas in biology that face demanding mathematical challenges.

CALL for participation: 13-14 November 2014 at ICTP, Trieste. The Symposium is open to a general audience in the area of HPC and Data-Intensive Applications in Earth Sciences and it will connect participants with experts in the field. DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 26 OCTOBER 2014. Grants are available from participants coming from the EU region.

The main objective of the e-IRG (e-Infrastructure Reflection Group) initiative is to support the creation of a political, technological and administrative framework for an easy and cost-effective shared use of distributed electronic resources across Europe. Particular attention is directed towards grid computing, storage, and networking.

Cineca and the Fortissimo consortium will organize first Fortissimo Forum on October 15th at Politecnico di Milano. The Fortissimo Forum will bring together Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), Service Providers, Small & Medium Eenterprises (SMEs) and technical experts around the theme of HPC applications in the cloud.

The 10th Call for proposals for PRACE Project Access (Tier-0) will close on October 22, 12:00(noon) CEST.
CINECA invites all interested scientists and researchers, whose projects fit the criteria of the PRACE calls, to submit their projects.
This Call for Proposals targets large-scale, computationally intensive projects that would not be possible or productive without access to PRACE resources

PRACE Pre-Commercial Procurement: completed the "TENDERING STAGE," now begins the "EXECUTION STAGE". Phase I (solution design) yielded 5 successful proposals from around Europe. Phase I will end in January 2015.

With an upgrade of 1,500 IBM server nodes, 3,000 new Intel processors and 3,000 NVIDIA GPU accelerators, the energy-efficient HPC system allows Eni to increase its computational capability to 3 Petaflops to more effectively support exploration and reservoir activities.

International Data Corporation (IDC) announced the seventh round of recipients of the HPC Innovation Excellence Award at the ISC'14 supercomputer industry conference in Germany. Cineca with Thesan was named a winner for developing simulation-driven engineering of hydroelectric turbines.
