EuroHPC Joint Undertaking has recently approved Cineca expression of interest for upgrading Leonardo supercomputer, targeting an increase of 100 PFlops of computing capacity: upgrade named Lisa, after the universally known portrait Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.

The CINECA's supercomputer LEONARDO, jointly funded by EuroHPC and CINECA on behalf of Italian Ministry of University and Research, reached the 4th position in the Top500 list of the fastest supercomputers in the world. This milestone rewards CINECA’s 50-year commitment to supporting research through HPC, and confirms Italy's role as a strategic asset in the building of the European HPC ecosystem.

Cineca is increasingly engaged in the sector of smart agriculture. Besides Highlander, Cineca is now involved in SEBASTIEN project, that aims to implement large-scale ICT based services to support smart livestock farming and management in order to better face climate change challenges and other environmental stressors.
