Four new calls for collaborative projects have been opened by the Human Brain Project (HBP). The calls cover infrastructure co-design, modelling allosteric drugs, data protection and gender equality coordination. Deadline for submission: 30 September 2017.

European HPC centres have officially opened a market consultation for the purchase of HPC systems as part of the Public Procurement of Innovative Solutions for High-Performance Computing (PPI4HPC) project. It involves four public procurers (BSC, CINECA, FZJ/JSC and GENCI) located in four different countries (Spain, Italy, Germany and France) working together in a joint procurement.

Cineca and the foundation ParCo Conferences organize at Bologna from 12 September to 15 September 2017 the International Conference on Parallel Computing. Since their inception in 1983 the ParCo conferences stimulated the development and application of parallel computers on a world-wide scale. Early registration until 15 August.

The Italian team "Onda Solare" competing in the Solar Challenge around the world won "Albi Eco Race 2017" category "Solar", the competition reserved for electric vehicles was held in France at the Albi circuit (12-14 May 2017). Cineca collaborates with the team and is a partner of Onda Solare Project.

On May 8th Valeria Fedeli, Minister of University and Research, was at Cineca for the official inauguration of the MARCONI supercomputer, ranked at the 12th position in the November16 Top500 list.

From 16 to 18 May 2017, PRACE will organise the fourth edition of its Scientific and Industrial Conference – PRACEdays17 – under the motto "HPC for Innovation: when Science meets Industry" in Barcelona, Spain. The conference will bring together experts from academia and industry who will present their advancements in HPC-supported science and engineering.

Transnational Access Programme for a Pan-European Network of HPC Research Infrastructures and Laboratories for scientific computing (HPC-Europa3) is the new 4-years project funded by EC. HPC-Europa3 aims at maintaining the persistency of a high quality service of transnational access to the most advanced HPC infrastructures available in Europe for the European research science community.
