The new Cineca supercomputer, Marconi, is on line

The new CINECA Tier-0 cluster, Marconi, starts its production phase today, Monday July 4th.

It has been co-designed by Cineca on the Lenovo NeXtScale architecture. It is equipped with the new Intel Xeon processors and it will reach a performance of about 20 PFlop/s, while maintaining a low energy consumption.

Marconi will gradually be completed in about 12 months: the first partition (Marconi-A1, based on Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v4 product family (Broadwell) with a computational power of 2Pflop/s) is now on line.
