FERMI is the new HPC system. The installation of the supercomputer and the upgrade of the machine room is ongoing and we are now able to provide you a detailed installation plan.
FERMI will substitute the former HPC systems SP6 that was shut down definitively in order to allow the installation of FERMI.
This implied a short production down in order to upgrade the computer room.
Some relevant dates:
May 16: Shut down and re-location of BG/P
May 18: Shut down of SP6
May 23: BG/P back in production
May 25: BG/Q check-out from plant
June 8: BG/Q arrival in Italy
June15: BG/Q arrival in CINECA
June 29: BG/Q HW and SW installation completed
July 13: BG/Q in controlled production
July 27: BG/Q in full production
A new version of the HPC user guide (containing also FERMI documentation) is in preparation and it will be available in the next weeks. At the moment, the user guide still contains information about SP6 machine (which has been dismissed in May 2012) and BGP machine (which will be dismissed at the end of august 2012).
