GALILEO: a new Cineca Supercomputing cluster

Dear Users,

We are proud to announce that GALILEO, the new Cineca Supercomputing Cluster, is on the way to be opened to researchers for full production!

Tier-1 system, IBM NeXtScale cluster, accelerated with new innovative Intel Phis processors, will replace the now obsolete but deserving PLX system and all its users will be safely migrated to the new system.

GALILEO will be in full production by FEBRUARY the 2nd and from that moment, the user could benefit of an architecture 2-4 times faster than PLX.

GALILEO will enable computational science of scale, and will allow Italian and European teams of researchers to perform computationally intensive, large-scale, research projects attacking fundamental scientific problems that require massive calculations.
